Louisiana man arrested after child molestation charge filed in Boone County

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Louisiana man was booked into the Boone County Jail on Sunday night after a child-molestation charge was filed in June.

Forrest D. Stevens, 61, of Hammond, Louisiana, was charged on June 1 with first-degree child molestation. He is being held in the Boone County Jail without bond. An court appearance was held Monday. Jail records indicate a court date is set for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6.

On Aug. 18, 2022, a Boone County Sheriff’s Deputy interviewed a child at Rainbow House who said she was sexually assaulted in June 2022, according to the probable cause statement.

The child told law enforcement that after the assault, they ran to a neighbor’s house to call their father, the statement says. After talking to the father, the victim stated Stevens apologized and claimed he had to leave the state.

According to the probable cause statement, when the father was interviewed, he stated he received a phone call from the child in June 2022. He allegedly contacted Stevens immediately to confront him about the assault and Stevens fled the state afterwards, the statement says.
