Tracking storms and localized flooding before intense heat returns

TODAY: I'm tracking widespread showers and storms continuing throughout the morning hours. 1-1.5" of rain has already fallen in the I-70 corridor, and due to continued training thunderstorms falling along this area, bringing isolated totals of 1-2+", localized flash flooding will be possible during this time. Coverage of activity will decrease throughout the afternoon hours as temperatures warm into the low 80s, but redevelopment in storms can be expected by the later afternoon hours near the I-44 corridor.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking low storm chances during the evening and early overnight hours, but more isolated to scattered storms will be possible by the end of the night. Temperatures are expected to drop back down into the upper 60s and low 70s as winds blow out of the south at 5-10 mph.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking decreasing chances of showers and storms once again by Friday afternoon as temperatures warm into the mid-80s. One last chance of activity can be expected overnight into Saturday morning before the heat and humidity make a return. By Saturday afternoon, temperatures are expected to warm into the upper 80s, but by Sunday, sunshine and southerly flow will drive temperatures into the low 90s, with humidity making it feel closer to 100-105. This will continue for Monday and Tuesday, but by Tuesday and Wednesday, lower chances for showers will make a return as high pressure driving this heat begins to shift back to the west.
