Three in custody after vehicle pursuit ends near Fulton

FULTON, Mo. (KMIZ)

Three people are in custody after a vehicle pursuit ended near Fulton Saturday evening.

Tracey Martin, 20, of Columbia, William Templeton Jr, 31, and John Garett, 26, both of Fulton are all facing charges of first-degree robbery.

The Fulton Police department arrested Garrett on charges of an attempted assault of an officer after Garrett attempted to hit a Fulton Officer with the vehicle. The officer was on foot near his patrol vehicle deploying spike strips.

The three approached a man and demanded the keys to his vehicle. They began to assault him, and one of the suspects threatened the use of a handgun.

A deputy with The Boone County Sheriff's Department located the stolen vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop, however, the driver failed to stop, leading to the pursuit. The vehicle was on State Road WW west of Millersburg coming into Callaway County.

A Callaway County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit set tire deflation devices on State Road F near State Road KK, which the suspect vehicle swerved to avoid.

Both Boone and Callaway County deputies continued to chase the vehicle. As the suspect vehicle neared Fulton on State Road F, officers from the Fulton Police Department assisted. Missouri State Highway Patrol also assisted with the chase.

The car then drove off the roadway into a field in the 4800 block of State Road F near the Fulton city limits.

Around 6:05 p.m., deputies and officers were able to take all three people in the vehicle into custody. They were transferred to the custody of the Boone County Sheriff’s Office for return to Boone County.

ABC 17 News crews saw multiple Boone County Sheriff's deputies and Callaway County Sheriff's deputies where the chase ended.

The Callaway County Sheriff's Department said there is no ongoing threat to community/public safety reference this incident.
