Fulton man accused of Boone County shooting arrested, faces multiple felony charges
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Fulton man was arrested Thursday in Columbia after allegedly leading Boone County Sheriff's Office deputies on a chase, the department said in a Facebook post.
Dustin Higgins, 33, is the suspect of a Saturday shooting that occurred in the 16000 block of South James Sapp Road near Ashland. He is charged with first-degree assault and armed-criminal action. He is being held without bond at the Boone County Jail for those charges.
On Thursday, law enforcement saw Higgins in the parking lot of Menards on Vandiver Drive in Columbia. Higgins was in a vehicle and drove away.
Deputies allegedly attempted to stop Higgins near the intersection of Vandiver Drive and Highway 63 but Higgins did not stop, leading deputies on a chase on southbound Highway 63.
Higgins drove to the parking lot of the Home Depot on Clark Lane, where the sheriff's department says he allegedly parked and got out of the vehicle. The Boone County Sheriff's Department says he resisted while deputies tried to arrest him.
Higgins is charged with resisting arrest and has a $50,000 bond set for that charge, according to Casenet and Boone County Sheriff's Office online records.
