Tracking mild air, and another chance at rain
TODAY: Thursday will start mostly sunny to partly cloudy at sunrise. As clouds fill in from the west, we'll see skies take a grayer look. We'll likely see mostly cloudy skies for much of the day. This paired with winds from the east southeast will keep temperatures from warming much. We'll expect temperatures to climb into upper 50s for highs, a few degrees cooler than Wednesday. Winds will be sustained near 10 mph with gusts up to 15 mph generally from the east.
TONIGHT: Clouds will stick with us for most of the overnight hours, but we stay dry. Temperatures will cool to near 40 by sunrise Friday. Skies will start to trend towards a clearing by sunrise.
EXTENDED: We'll likely start Friday with some clouds, but increasing sunshine to near mostly sunny skies is likely by mid-morning. More sunshine warms us back into the mid-60s despite easterly wind trying to keep us cool. Clouds return for Saturday as a low pressure system approaches from the southwest. We'll warm into the 60s again Saturday afternoon as winds turn more southerly aloft. It's this change that ushers in chances for showers late Saturday night and into Sunday morning as the approaching low passes by just to our south. Rain chances will clear by midday Monday, and we'll trend dry into next week. As far as how much we could see, it's certainly far from what we recorded earlier this week. Highest rain rates will remain south of I-44, but we will see measurable rainfall. As of now, it looks like we may be able to pick up one quarter to one half of an inch of rain, and that would likely be in a swath south of I-70. No big cool downs are anticipated with this system. We'll stay on the cool side of this system, but temperatures remain largely in the low 60s for highs Saturday and Sunday before warming back into the low 70s by the first half of next week.
