Tracking strong south winds that warm us up ahead of an early week rain

TONIGHT: Saturday goes in the books as well warmer than normal, but still 4 degrees shy of our record high of 88. Winds are gusty, but will relax overnight. Relax is a relative term here, as we'll maintain a south breeze of 10-15 mph overnight. This keeps temperatures in the low-to-mid 60s overnight.

TOMORROW: Sunday's warm start will give us a good jumping point to climb well into the 80s for highs yet again. Additionally, winds will gust just as high, if not higher than Saturday, with gusts reaching 30-40 mph at their peak in the afternoon. Still, with increasing clouds, there's a chance we could be a degree or two cooler. If partly cloudy skies fail to materialize, then we may be a bit warmer. Broadly, expect another warm and windy day, with partly cloudy skies.

EXTENDED: Monday starts cloudier, with showers returning as soon as the morning hours. These will generally remain off and on through the morning, with more widespread rainfall coming in the afternoon and evening. Expect rain to push west to east overnight into Tuesday. As the front pushes east, a low pressure system will travel south to north along the front, arriving in mid-Missouri by early Tuesday. This low will bring more moisture, and potentially keep rain in the forecast a bit longer on Tuesday, raising expected rain totals for those to the southeast. Broadly speaking, it looks like we could see a range of just under an inch to nearly 2 inches of rain from the northwest to southeast. Highest totals look to be focused near I-44. We'll see drier weather Tuesday night with clearing skies by Wednesday morning. The rest of the week looks mostly dry, with only a slim chance for rain on Friday as a system passes just to our south. Behind the early week front we find ourselves cooler, with highs in the 60s Tuesday through the weekend.
