Columbia police release holiday DWI data

Columbia police arrested six drivers over the Independence Day holiday weekend at two separate DWI checkpoints. Motorcycle crash kills Columbia man

Columbia police are investigating an early Sunday morning motorcycle crash that killed a local man. Police say Brandon E. Bainter, 29, of Columbia was driving westbound on Broadway near Westwood Avenue around 1 a.m. Sunday. According to CPD, Bainter lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to leave the roadway and hit a utility pole.
