Boonville inmates face drug charges

Two Boonville Correctional Center inmates are now charged after they were allegedly found with drugs in the prison. According to court documents, prescription drugs were found on May 20, hidden in a letter addressed to Ronnie Stephens, 34. Earlier on May 9, Eric Conley, 49, allegedly had another man throw a package over the fence.

Former Columbia mayor Hindman dies

Columbia’s longest-serving mayor died early Monday. Former Mayor Darwin Hindman died at his home Monday morning surrounded by his family, said Fourth Ward Councilman Ian Thomas, Hindman’s son-in-law. Thomas said Hindman “died peacefully.” He was 86. Hindman was mayor from 1995 to 2010, preceding Bob McDavid. He garnered several civic honors, including an honorary law
