Tracking temperature swings and storms for the week ahead

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy and cold with lows in the lower 30s.

TOMORROW: Partly cloudy with a cool breeze up to 20 mph. Highs in the mid-50s.

EXTENDED: Clouds are hanging over the region as a weak disturbance continues to roll across Mid-MO, but no rain is expected with dry air in place. It's cold tonight with temperatures dropping into the low 30s. Tomorrow is breezy and cool as temperature remain in the 50s, but we'll see a warm front lift north over us on Tuesday, bringing highs into the low 70s despite clouds and a strong breeze. Tuesday evening, a cold front starts to approach from the west and will bring rain and storms to eastern Kansas before sunset. Showers and storms fire up in Mid-MO likely after midnight. A few may be on the stronger side overnight into Wednesday morning, but given the timing and lack of instability I'm not concerned about widespread severe weather. Rain could be heavy at times on Wednesday as the front works its way through. Showers will come to an end early on Thursday, but it will be chilly with temperatures only making the upper 40s. We end the week on Friday in the upper 50s with a chance of more rain moving in late Friday into Saturday. Rain amounts over the next week will be in the 1-2" range, with isolated higher amounts where we see a few storms. Next weekend will be slightly warmer with highs in the upper 50s to around 60.
