Tracking overnight potential freezing drizzle

TODAY: Tuesday is notably cooler than Monday, when 70°+ highs cooked the region in near record warmth on an early February day. We'll only climb into the 40s after a start in the 30s thanks to northerly flow.

TONIGHT: Temperatures fall back to the low-to-mid 30s tonight as a warm front sits just to our south. Winds will turn easterly as it approaches, to southerly once it arrives. Ahead of it, as soon as midnight Tuesday night, we'll see a chance for showers and drizzle. This will work north ahead of the warm front, encountering near surface air temperatures below freezing. This will create freezing rain that will coat elevated surfaces in light icing. This means elevated walkways and bridges will be slick. Roadways will be slower to freeze, so we may avoid travel impacts generally outside of bridges, but you'll still want to use extra caution as it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility. The greatest concern will be along and north of HWY 24 where there is currently a Winter Weather Advisory in effect.

EXTENDED: Wednesday will warm with time, back to near 50 by the afternoon. This means that slick conditions will likely improve through the morning as warmer rain falls over the region. Rain will come to an end Wednesday night, from west to east. Generally, less than a half of an inch of rain is expected. We'll be warmer to start Thursday, with lows near 40. This and some sunshine allows for a high in the upper 40s Friday.
