Tracking two rounds of storms on Thursday, potential severe threat

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy and mild as temperatures hold in the upper 50s.

THURSDAY: Showers and thunderstorms move in early for the morning commute. Heavy rain and potentially small hail will be possible through late morning. Depending on how long these storms stick around, there's a chance we could see redevelopment along and ahead of the cold front by mid-late afternoon. Some of those storms could become severe, with isolated tornadoes and damaging winds possible. A Weather Alert Day is in effect.

EXTENDED: The cold front slides through Thursday night, ending our storm chances well before midnight. It's much colder as temperatures drop from the 40s Thursday night to the 30s by Friday afternoon. We remain dry and somewhat cloudy through the weekend with temperatures about 10 degrees cooler than average. Rain returns next week with highs getting back into the 50s to around 60 through mid-week.
