Tracking more summer-like heat before mid-week storm chances

TODAY: I'm tracking another somewhat cool start to the day with temperatures in the mid-50s, but record-breaking heat could be in the forecast this afternoon. Mostly sunny conditions and southwesterly winds at 8-12 mph, gusting up to 15 mph, will boost temperatures into the low 90s.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking a mostly clear, quiet night as southwesterly winds at 8-12 mph continue. By the end of the night, mid-to-upper 60s are expected.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking similar heat for Monday afternoon, with low 90s in the forecast, and it will continue to stay hot through Tuesday. By Tuesday night, relief from the heat will be entering Mid-Missouri. A front will bring widespread showers and storms overnight into Wednesday morning, and this rainfall will last through the majority of the day, with one final push of showers and storms by Thursday afternoon. Afterward, noticeably drier and cooler weather returns, with mid-50s Friday morning, only warming into the upper 60s by the afternoon. A similar story is expected for the weekend.
