Tracking extreme heat through the weekend with little relief in sight

TODAY: I'm tracking another hot, sunny afternoon as air temperatures get into the upper 90s and humidity makes it feel closer to the 105-108 degree range as winds blow out of the south at 5-10 mph. This is why an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day is in effect and will stay in effect at least through Saturday evening.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking a very gradual cooldown as sky conditions remain mostly clear and temperatures drop into the mid-70s. Winds will continue to stay out of the south at 5-10 mph.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking a very low chance of morning pop-up storms on Saturday, but by the afternoon hours, the focus once again will be heat index values in the 105-108 degree range. I'm tracking another low potential for isolated showers and storms Sunday morning, but heat continues to dominate the forecast and could be enough to get back into the extreme range by Sunday afternoon. Approaching next week, largely sunshine will be expected, with the best chances of precipitation arriving towards the end of the week. It will still be hot throughout next week, with temperatures each afternoon continuing to get into the low to mid 90s. The one thing that will help is that humidity will be slightly lower, so extreme heat index values aren't as likely during this period of time.
