Tracking drier conditions returning as summer heat takes back over

TODAY: I'm tracking a mostly dry start to the day as temperatures begin in the upper 60s and low 70s. Some clouds and isolated storms may be present, but the majority of activity throughout the day is expected to stay in Western Missouri and Kansas. Due to this, temperatures by the afternoon hours will get back into the mid to upper 80s as winds blow out of the southwest at 5-10 mph and mostly dry conditions persist.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking mostly dry conditions continuing as isolated storm chances at most are expected overnight. Temperatures are expected to cool into the low 70s as winds continue to blow out of the southwest at 5-10 mph.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking a mostly sunny day ahead on Saturday as temperatures warm back up into the upper 80s. One more chance of scattered showers and storms is expected overnight into Sunday morning, but by the afternoon hours, dry, hot weather will return. Temperatures will warm into the low 90s, but heat index values will be closer to the 100-105 degree range. This will continue for Monday and Tuesday before the high pressure that will be dragging this heat and humidity begins to break down. With this will come slightly more widespread shower and storm chances by Wednesday and Thursday, which will in turn bring relief from the heat.
