Tracking light showers tonight, dangerous heat this weekend

TONIGHT: Scattered showers continue overnight, and temperatures remain steady in the upper 60s and low 70s.

TOMORROW: A stray shower before noon, then sunny and hot by midday. An Extreme Heat Advisory is in effect Saturday for a heat index of 100 to 104 degrees.

EXTENDED: An ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day has been issued for Sunday through Tuesday due to an extreme heat wave that will drive the heat index up to 111 degrees in some places. Drink extra water, stay in air conditioning as much as possible, and check on your friends and neighbors during this heat. A weak cold front will move through the area sometime late Tuesday, bringing minor relief from the heat, but the heat index may reach the 90s on Wednesday and Thursday. Better rain chances late next week will finally cool temperatures to near average in the upper 80s next weekend.
