Tracking a big cool down tomorrow, rain returning Friday

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and cooler with lows in the upper 60s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny, much cooler, and less humid with highs in the lower 80s.

EXTENDED: A cold front worked through Mid-Missouri Tuesday afternoon, allowing winds to shift to the north. We'll finally feel the effects of the front on Wednesday, with morning temperatures in the 60s and highs in the lower 80s. Thursday looks similar, with the addition of a few more clouds. By Thursday night, low pressure begins to work through the jet stream from the northwest at the same time as low level winds ramp up from the southwest. The low level jet will pull more moisture back into the region, and low pressure triggers showers and storms starting late Thursday night through Friday. Some storms could be heavy rainfall producers, but severe weather isn't expected. Rainfall amounts could range between 0.5-1" in individual storms. Most of the rain exits by late Friday afternoon, leaving us dry to start the weekend. As high pressure moves in from the west again, temperatures gradually begin to rise. A wind shift to the south by the end of the weekend will bring highs back into the 90s with a heat index between 100-105 early in the week.
