Tracking a pleasant Wednesday with a few pop-up storms possible

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and mild with lows in the upper 60s to around 70.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny with an isolated shower or storm across southern Missouri. Highs in the upper 80s.

EXTENDED: High pressure begins to slowly move to the east while low pressure spins across Texas by mid-week. We'll be at the top edge of low pressure, with winds starting to shift east/southeasterly, pulling in more moisture-rich air to end the week. This will allow dew points to rise into the lower 70s, bringing the heat index to the upper 90s to around 100 from Thursday through the weekend. The increase in moisture will allow a few afternoon storms to develop on Wednesday mainly near the I-44 corridor, with coverage a bit more numerous and farther north on Thursday. A couple of pulse thunderstorms will be possible into Friday before heat really cranks up for the weekend. Any storms that develop over the next few days could produce high rainfall rates, but severe weather isn't expected. We'll see highs in the 90s from Friday through early next week with a heat index near 100. By mid-late next week, we'll see the upper pattern change as northwest flow is right overhead, ushering in cooler temperatures and chances for a few storms by mid-late next week.
