Tracking a hot and quiet week with limited rain

TONIGHT: Mostly clear with patchy river valley fog possible. Lows in the upper 60s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and seasonably hot with highs in the upper 80s.

EXTENDED: A dome of high pressure has pressed far to our north, but with east/northeasterly flow aloft, humidity isn't as bad as it could be with dew points in the 60s through Wednesday. Late in the week, upper high pressure begins to retrograde, allowing winds to shift more southwesterly across our area. That will mean more Gulf moisture being pulled into the region, pushing dew points into the lower 70s. As temperatures rise into the low 90s, we'll see a heat index hovering around the 100-degree mark between Thursday and at least Saturday, likely into Sunday. There won't be a ton of forcing to get storms, but a weak wave may bring enough energy to pop up a few storms on Thursday into Friday. Severe weather is not expected as wind shear will be severely lacking. A cold front sets up to our northeast late in the weekend as the ridge tries to weaken, keeping a few rain chances just to our north.
