Tracking another round of strong to severe storms before dry time

TODAY: I'm tracking the last of the morning showers and storms moving out of the area, leading to a brief period of dry conditions. As temperatures warm into the mid to upper 80s this afternoon, more potential storms are possible, some of which could be severe, which is why an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day is in effect. The best potential for damaging winds with storms will be at 3 PM throughout the early evening, before flooding once again becomes a concern.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking lingering storms posing a threat of flooding until after midnight tonight before they eventually exit by the end of the night. Temperatures are expected to drop into the low 70s as winds blow out of the northwest at 5-10 mph.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking drier conditions returning by Saturday afternoon as temperatures warm into the mid-80s. These drier conditions are expected to stick around throughout the rest of these 7 days as higher pressure begins to take over the region. Sunshine is anticipated throughout the majority of next week, helping temperatures each afternoon get into the upper 80s and low 90s. Heat index values could be nearing 100 by the end of next week, but dangerously hot temperatures and oppressive humidity are not expected at this time.
