Tracking a nice start to the week, more storms by Wednesday

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and comfortable with lows in the mid-50s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and pleasant with highs in the upper 70s.

EXTENDED: High pressure remains in control across the region to kick off the week as winds will come in from the northwest, allow temperatures to remain almost 10 degrees cooler than normal in the mid-upper 70s through Tuesday. As the high pressure exits the region, a low pressure system moves across the Great Lakes with a cold front parked to our north on Wednesday. Since we'll be on the warmer side of the system early, we'll warm into the mid-upper 80s as winds pull in warmer, more moist air from the south during the day. By Wednesday afternoon or evening, a complex of strong storms will be possible and bring the potential of severe storms with damaging winds and heavy rain. The Storm Prediction Center already has much of Mid-Missouri in a level 3/5 risk for severe storms. Another 1-2" of rainfall will be possible between Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Behind the front, we'll see some lingering showers on Thursday with highs in the upper 70s. Friday and Saturday are looking seasonable with highs in the lower 80s and a chance for some pop-up storms over the weekend.
