Tracking summer heat continuing with showers and storms in the forecast

TODAY: I'm tracking a mostly dry but warm start to the day with temperatures in the upper 60s and low 70s walking out the door. By the afternoon hours, temperatures can be expected to warm into the low to mid 80s thanks to southwesterly winds at 10-15 mph, gusting up to 20 mph, but this humid air will be making it feel closer to the low 90s for some. Isolated showers and storms will become possible during the afternoon hours, beginning south of I-70 and moving north throughout the day.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking isolated chances of showers overnight as temperatures drop back down into the upper 60s and low 70s while winds blow out of the southeast at 5-10 mph, gusting up to 15 mph.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking better chances to observe showers and storms throughout Sunday. These will begin as isolated to scattered chances to the west of Columbia during the morning hours, becoming more consistent and widespread as they move east throughout the afternoon hours. During this, temperatures are expected to get up into the low 80s, but humidity will still make it feel closer to 90 degrees. Widespread rainfall will continue overnight into Monday morning, drying up throughout the afternoon hours, still keeping temperatures in the low 80s, feeling like the low 90s before sunset. After this, sunshine returns, and with that, warmer temperatures are expected. The rest of the week, low 90s can be expected, with humid air making it feel closer to triple digits each afternoon.
