Tracking showers and storms through the weekend as heat returns

TODAY: I'm tracking scattered showers and storms exiting during the afternoon hours as stubborn cloud cover sticks around. Temperatures are expected to warm into the low to mid 80s this afternoon as winds blow out of the southwest at 10-15 mph, gusting up to 20 mph. Humidity will make it feel closer to the upper 80s and low 90s for some.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking a weakening system of showers and storms entering from Northern Missouri overnight, but most are expected to continue to stay dry as temperatures gradually cool into the upper 70s. Winds will continue to blow out of the southwest at 10-15 mph, gusting up to 20 mph.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking this lower rain chance continuing for Saturday morning, but most will likely stay dry until isolated to scattered showers and storms spread from south to north in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will be hot in the upper 80s, but higher levels of humidity will make it feel closer to the low to mid 90s. More widespread chances of showers and storms are expected by Sunday afternoon, lasting throughout Monday, which will keep temperatures in the low to mid 80s each day, but humidity will still be a factor in making it feel warmer. Drier conditions can be expected approaching the middle of next week, but temperatures will begin to climb as sunshine returns. By Tuesday and Wednesday, upper 80s and low 90s are expected, with heat index values potentially approaching 100.
