Tracking a few more waves of storms before sunshine on Memorial Day

TODAY: I'm tracking winds blowing out of the east at 5-10 mph, gusting up to 15 mph, as cloud cover persists, only allowing temperatures to warm into the upper 60s by the afternoon hours. Isolated to scattered showers and storms will be possible during the day, but no real measurable rainfall can be expected from these chances.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking showers and storms exiting as temperatures drop into the upper 50s by the end of the night. Winds will be blowing at 3-6 mph, shifting into the north overnight, and clouds are expected to briefly break apart.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking warmer weather returning by Saturday afternoon as temperatures get into the upper 70s, but more scattered chances of showers and storms are expected by the afternoon and evening hours as well, with the most likely chance for Columbia to see storms by 4-7 pm. Sunday is trending drier, with slightly more sunshine expected, allowing temperatures to once again get into the upper 70s. Monday, Memorial Day, will be dry as well, with more sunshine expected throughout the day, allowing temperatures to get back into the low 80s by the afternoon hours. Pop-up storms near the Lake will be the main potential impact on this day. This warmer weather is expected to persist throughout the majority of the week, but daily rain and storm chances will also make a return in the forecast.
