Tracking morning fog and scattered rain chances ahead of a cooler Mother’s Day

TODAY: I'm tracking a dense fog advisory in effect for all of Central Missouri until 8 AM this morning as temperatures sit in the low 50s walking out the door. Before fog dissipates, drive more slowly, leaving extra space between you and the car in front of you. By the afternoon hours, sunshine will make a return, and winds will blow out of the west at 5-10 mph, gusting up to 15 mph, leading to temperatures warming into the low 80s.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking cloud cover making a return ahead of scattered showers that will last overnight into the morning hours of Mother's Day. Temperatures will drop into the mid-50s as winds blow out of the north at 5-10 mph, gusting up to 15 mph.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking cloud cover and scattered showers persisting throughout the morning hours of Mother's Day as winds continue to blow out of the north at 8-12 mph, gusting up to 20 mph. With sunshine being slow to return, temperatures will only warm into the mid-to-upper 60s. Sunshine and slightly warmer weather in the low 70s return by Monday afternoon, and by Tuesday, 80s are back in the forecast. Isolated showers and storms will be possible Tuesday evening, but mostly dry and sunny weather is set to persist until the end of the week as temperatures begin to creep into the upper 80s by Friday.
