Tracking scattered storms tonight, wet and chilly Tuesday

TONIGHT: Scattered storms with large hail possible through late tonight. Lows in the lower 50s.

TOMORROW: Soggy and cold with highs in the mid-50s. Rain continuing on and off throughout much of the day.

EXTENDED: Storm coverage is expected to expand after sunset tonight as low level winds kick up out of the southwest, but instability will also gradually wane overnight. We could have a few strong storms with hail to the size of quarters to ping pong balls in some storms, but the entire batch of storms is not expected to be severe. With the threat being more isolated and limited to mainly hail, we have opted not to issue a Weather Alert Day for this evening. Rain and a few rumbles of thunder are expected to continue into much of Tuesday, and it will be dramatically cooler as temperatures don't warm much from our overnight lows in the 50s. Rain exits early on Wednesday, but we're left chilly behind the front with highs in the mid-50s. We'll gradually warm through the end of the week with highs in the mid-60s again Thursday and low 70s Friday with a disturbance bringing a chance for a few showers, mainly north, on Friday. Saturday looks like the nicer day of the weekend, but rain could return in time for Mother's Day, as another front moves in from the north. Rain amounts through Wednesday morning will range from about 0.75" to 1", with an additional 0.5" possible between Sunday and Monday.
