Tracking a warm Wednesday, rain by Thursday morning

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy and chilly, with temperatures dropping quickly into the low 40s after sunset. Lows will fall to the lower 30s. Winds will be lighter from the south and west, blowing between 5 and 10 mph.

TOMORROW: Sunny and warm, with highs in the mid-50s. Winds will be calm in the morning, but the late afternoon and evening will be breezier, with gusts up to 20 mph.

EXTENDED: A quick, widespread round of showers will move through late Wednesday night into Thursday morning as a cold front tracks through the area. No wintry precipitation is expected, and rain should end before noon on Thursday. Up to a quarter-inch of rain is possible in eastern Missouri, but most of us will see less. Winds will be gusty on Thursday afternoon, reaching up to 35 mph by the end of the day. Temperatures will see-saw over the weekend, with highs in the low 40s on Friday, rising back to the 50s on Saturday, then falling again to the 40s on Sunday.
