Tracking a cold Thanksgiving, snow possible early Saturday

TONIGHT: Temperatures fall near freezing by Thanksgiving dinner, and overnight lows drop to the lower 20s.

TOMORROW: Black Friday shoppers will want lots of extra layers in the morning, and temperatures remain chilly in the 30s in the afternoon. Conditions will be clear for post-holiday travel during the day.

EXTENDED: An ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day is in effect for late Friday night into Saturday for the first potential snowfall of the season. Precipitation will be almost all rain over the Lake of the Ozarks, mixing with more snow as you head north. Snow accumulations could reach 1 to 3 inches in places like Columbia, Jefferson City, Boonville, and Owensville. The highest totals between 2 and 4 inches could fall in Moberly, Mexico, Montgomery City, and other areas to the northeast. Travel could get tricky on Saturday, but colder and drier weather is expected by Sunday. Another chance of flurries is possible on Monday, but no impacts are expected.
