Tracking another night with near record low temperatures

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and cold with lows a few degrees below zero.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny with increasing clouds and a chance of flurries. Highs in the mid-20s.

EXTENDED: Sunshine helped a lot on roads today, but we'll likely get close to breaking another record low tomorrow morning. We broke it by 6 degrees today, recording -6 degrees at Columbia Regional Airport, and we also recorded a new record cold high temperature of 13 degrees for February 19. Sunshine and warmer air returns tomorrow as winds shift to the southwest, sending our temperatures into the mid-20s during the day. A weak disturbance could bring a few more clouds toward afternoon and evening along with a shot at some flurries, but no impacts are expected. This weekend looks great with sunny skies and highs in the upper 30s Saturday, and breezy with highs near 50 on Sunday. Next week starts off mild as we get to near 60 on Monday and Tuesday with stronger winds and sunshine. I'm tracking an active pattern toward mid-week, but with temperatures remaining near or above average, precipitation looks to fall as rain, perhaps as early as Wednesday.
