WEATHER ALERT DAY: Near record cold lows Thursday night

The ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Team has issued a Weather Alert Day for dangerously cold temperatures through tomorrow morning.

Temperatures will be near zero again Friday morning, potentially recording more records across Mid-Missouri. The record low in Columbia on Friday morning is 2 degrees, set back in 1939. Wind chills will be close to the air temperatures due to lighter winds overnight.

Roads are still slick and snow covered, especially where they haven't been treated well due to frigid temperatures.

Snow amounts were highest as high snowfall rates were observed near the Lake of the Ozarks Tuesday night, with reports ranging between 6-9" all around the Lake area. Farther north, our weather team collected reports of 3-4" near Columbia, Jefferson City, Fulton, and Ashland.

Hope is on the horizon, though, with forecast high temperatures in the 50s several days next week.
