Tracking a rise in temperatures after one more bitter day

TODAY: Tuesday is the last, but likely the coldest, of our ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Days. Starting with wind chills as cold as -20, we'll be dangerously cold through the day. Highs will reach low teens, keeping wind chills in the single digits through the day.

TONIGHT: Winds will have gradually shifted through the day, returning a southerly influence by sunset. This will eventually start to warm us overnight, with Wednesday's low temperature possibly a few degrees warmer than today's high.

EXTENDED: In either scenario, we are notably warmer Wednesday, likely reaching above freezing for many by the afternoon. Thursday is a similarly mild day. A shortwave aloft will swing through the region this week, with several disturbances embedded in it. This keeps us mostly cloudy Wednesday and Thursday, with a chance at hit and miss flurries. No accumulating snow is expected. Friday brings a bit more sunshine, with highs still near freezing, but highs return to the 40s on Saturday. High uncertainty revolves around a system at the end of the weekend, but it could bring us rain, snow, or both. It's really to early to say, so for now we'll just watch and wait.
