Tracking frigid temperatures through Thursday morning with another shot at snow by Thursday night
TONIGHT: Mostly clear and bitterly cold with lows near zero and wind chills between -5 and -10 degrees.
TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and cold with highs in the upper teens and wind chills around 10.
EXTENDED: The coldest night of the week is ahead with a northwest breeze approaching 10 mph. That wind, coupled with lows near zero, will send wind chills to around -5 to -10 by daybreak. The afternoon is cold and sunny, leading into another frigid night with lows in the low single digits. We'll see a wind shift on Thursday as high pressure moves to our south, sending highs back up to near 30 degrees. Cloud cover increases by late afternoon into the evening ahead of low pressure that will track to our south and bring light snow to the region between late Thursday and early Friday. The biggest impact from that system will stay to our south, but we could see light accumulation across much of Mid-Missouri, with a dusting to an inch possible in Columbia and Jefferson City and 1-2" for the Lake of the Ozarks and south. Snow showers will exit east between mid-late afternoon, leaving us dry and cold for the start of the weekend. We'll see highs in the lower 30s Saturday and Sunday, with a few flurries possible on Sunday. Next week starts off chilly with highs in the upper 20s to low 30s.Â
