Tracking the end of our winter storm and the beginning of arctic cold

TODAY: Monday morning brings our ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day to a close. We will have a few final snow showers dropping light accumulations through 7 a.m. but many will be done with additional snow fall by then. Snow will continue to blow in up to 20 mph wind gusts through the morning, but winds will die down by the afternoon. Temperatures may just barely get to 20 degrees this afternoon, but with snow on the ground, wind from the north, and lingering clouds, I would not be shocked to get stuck in the teens.

TONIGHT: Winds calm as arctic high pressure sinks into the region. It gets frigid overnight, with temperatures effectively hugging both sides of zero by sunrise.

EXTENDED: This arctic air lingers through Wednesday, with each day dry and cold. Expect lows near zero, and highs in the teens. Thursday will be slightly warmer, as south winds put us near 30 Thursday and Friday afternoons. This will ultimately lead to a snow chance Friday, as an area of low pressure approaches Thursday, and passes by to our south on Friday. Overall snow chances are low, and accumulations look light if we see any. Expect more details to come as we get closer.
