Tracking gusty winds and warm temperatures before storms late Wednesday
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy and mild with lows in the upper 60s. Strong wind gusts up to 25 mph.
TOMORROW: Windy and warm with gusty winds up to 30-40 mph. Highs in the mid-80s with partly sunny skies.
EXTENDED: Strong southwest upper winds continue through Wednesday, with gusts up to 30-40 mph. With ongoing drought and dry fuels in combination with low dew points, the fire danger will be elevated. Temperatures reach the 80s through Wednesday ahead of an approaching cold front that will bring storms by Wednesday evening. Ingredients are in place for a few storms to become strong to severe with large hail and isolated gusty winds possible. If the front moves through earlier in the day, storms have a better chance of becoming severe. Rain amounts will reach around 1-1.5" total through Thursday morning. Halloween is looking cooler with highs in the upper 50s as winds begin to die down. We'll cool down for the rest of the week with highs in the lower 60s. Rain chances return over the weekend, with showers and a few storms possible between Saturday and Sunday, adding another 1-1.5" to our weekly rain total. Temperatures over the weekend will be in the 60s during the day and low 50s at night.
