Tracking limited rain chances and a weekend cooldown
TODAY: Wednesday is sunny, with hardly a cloud in the sky. This, plus a more southerly wind component in the forecast will help to push temperatures into the low 80s this afternoon. Grab the sunscreen and sunglasses today.
TONIGHT: Skies stay clear overnight, with temperatures falling back into the low 60s and upper 50s.
EXTENDED: On Thursday we will warm even more, back into the mid-to-upper 80s with enough humidity to feel like near 90. A cold front will arrive around the dinner hour in the north, near Brunswick Macon, and Marceline. A line of showers and weak storms will form along the front, and slowly work south. Overnight, the intensity of rainfall will wane, but rainfall may make it south of Jefferson City towards I-44 by Friday morning. Rain totals are expected to be best near Brunswick, lesser near Columbia and Jefferson City, and nearly nothing near I-44. No Severe is forecast. The most likely timing for rain in Columbia and Jefferson City is from 5-7 a.m. with rain as soon as 3 a.m. and as late as 9 a.m. Friday. The bigger impact will be highs in the 70s Friday through the weekend, and lows in the low 40s and 50s Saturday and Sunday morning. We'll start to warm again next week, but stay below to near average through Tuesday.
