Mizzou football season opener climatology

It's gameday for Mizzou Football who looks to take on Murray State in the season kick-off. With above average temperatures this evening expected, we take a look back to season opener climatology in Columbia, Missouri.

The heat index has reached into the triple digits for portions of Mid-Missouri as the highs have crashed into the lower 90s. The record high for August 29 sits at 110 degrees set in 1984, with the record low of 43 degrees in 1986.

The last time Mizzou faced off against Murray State for a season opener, temperatures were a lot cooler back into the upper 70s for the high. That season in the SEC, the tigers started out with a 58-14 victory.

For people planning to attend this years season opener, Ragweed pollen looks to be in very high levels. Allergy medication will most likely be needed for those with sensitivities.
