Tracking a few storms, dangerous heat most of this week

TONIGHT: Mostly clear with a few storms, especially east of Highway 63. Lows in the lower 70s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny with morning showers diminishing. Becoming hot and humid with highs in the low 90s and a heat index around 105.

EXTENDED: Upper high pressure will bring brutal heat to Mid-Missouri for much of the week, with little measurable rain to bring relief. A Weather Alert Day is in effect from Monday through Wednesday as the heat index will reach near 105-110 degrees each afternoon with dew points rising into the 70s. Rain chances will be confined to the top of the ridge, which will be just to our north. A stalled out front remains parked along the Iowa-Missouri border until late week when the pattern finally begins to break, bringing a chance for a few storms and slightly cooler air to the region. Rain amounts will stay around 0.25" for much of our area, with the more meaningful rain up to our northeast along the Mississippi River. Temperatures remain warm through next weekend as highs remain in the upper 80s to around 90.
