Tracking increasing heat ahead of weekend

TODAY: Afternoon highs look to increase into the lower 90s as the heat index surges into the mid-90s. Skies remain mostly sunny with winds out of the south at 4-8 mph.

TONIGHT: Thursday night sees lows into the lower 70s with mostly sunny skies.

EXTENDED: Friday sees a continue warming trend lasting into the weekend and next week. Highs creep into the mid-90s with the heat index closer to 97 degrees. A few isolated pop-up storms remain possible. Saturday sees the heat index climb to around 100 degrees with late overnight showers and storms possible. A few isolated strong to severe storms remain possible before storms exit early Sunday morning. highs continue to climb into the mid to upper 90s into next week.
