Tracking a week of heat and humidity, limited storm chances

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and muggy with lows in the mid-70s.

TOMORROW: Partly sunny and breezy with highs in the low 90s. Heat index in the upper 90s. Isolated showers and storms possible.

EXTENDED: A stagnant high pressure system will be trapped in the eastern half of the country, continuing to allow quiet weather and plenty of heat as winds wrap around and pull in moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. Heat indices reach the upper 90s tomorrow with a chance of a spot storm or two. The best chance of rain this week will be up across far northern Missouri on Wednesday as a stalled front situates near the Iowa-Missouri border, but that leaves much of Mid-Missouri out of the mix for cooling rain. Highs remain in the 90s all week, with heat indices climbing back into the upper 90s by the end of the week into the start of the weekend. We top out near 95 on Saturday, but a cold front could bring a chance for some showers and storms through Sunday, potentially bringing a little relief.
