Tracking rounds of storms this week, severe possible on Tuesday
TONIGHT: Mostly clear and mild with lows in the upper 50s.
TOMORROW: Mostly sunny with highs in the mid-80s. Isolated storms possible by early evening.
EXTENDED: The streak of early summer like temperatures continues this week as upper southwest winds prevail. Monday starts off warm with temperatures in the upper 50s before rising into the mid-80s once again. A frontal boundary settles across the region during the day, and begins lifting north by late afternoon and evening. A few thunderstorms could develop along the front as low level winds pull in more moisture to the region late in the day. A few storms could be on the stronger side with heavy rain and isolated quarter size hail. As temperatures remain warm overnight into Tuesday, a couple showers and storms could develop early in the day, but the severe risk will be fairly low. A better chance for more organized severe weather is possible by late Tuesday afternoon into the evening as a Weather Alert Day will be in effect. Mid-Missouri is in a level 2/5 risk for severe weather, with locations along and north of I-70 in a level 3. All hazards will be possible, including quarter to half dollar size hail, 60 mph winds, and a few tornadoes through late Tuesday evening as storms exit to the east. We'll be slightly cooler on Wednesday behind the front, as highs fall into the lower 70s. Another cold front works through late in the week, bringing a chance for rain and a few storms by Thursday into Friday. Rain totals for the week will be around 0.5" to 1".
