Tracking a warm, breezy Sunday and storm chances Monday
TONIGHT: I'm tracking breezy winds from the south at 15-20 mph and gusts up to 25 mph. Expect a mostly clear sky and temperatures gradually dropping into the low 50s throughout the evening and overnight hours.
TOMORROW: I'm tracking breezy winds from the south sticking around at 15-20 mph and gusts up to 30 mph. This along with sunshine will help mid-Missouri warm up into the low 80s by the afternoon hours. Columbia could break a record high temperature for March 3rd that was set back in 1983 when we reached 80 degrees.
EXTENDED: Another warm day is expected Monday before a cold front makes temperatures take a hit. Throughout the afternoon and evening hours there is a chance (40-50%) for stormy weather associated with rain. There is still plenty of uncertainty with the timing of the cold front which will play a big role in what kind of weather central Missouri experiences, so continue to tune the ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Team's messaging about this system. We know that the cold air behind this cold front will not be as strong as last weeks cold front, so we will still experience high temperatures that are 10-15 degrees above average for the rest of the week. A wet pattern is expected to set up the second half of the week, which could bring substantial rainfall and assist in the current drought across Missouri.
