Tracking the first hard freeze, bitter mornings into next week

TONIGHT: Rain exiting late with clouds gradually decreasing. Gusty winds and cold with lows in the mid-20s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and cold with highs in the lower 40s.

EXTENDED: The coldest air since March moves in over the next couple of nights as a cold front takes rain with it this evening. Clouds gradually exit but strong north-northwest winds hang around into tomorrow morning. Overnight lows dip into the low to mid-20s, with a freeze warning in place through daybreak as a hard, killing freeze is expected. Wind chills dip into the mid-teens by morning, so make sure to head out in layers tomorrow. Highs reach the low 40s with mostly sunny skies Monday. Halloween is looking chilly but dry as high temperatures reach the mid-40s after another morning in the 20s. Trick or treating will be cold as sunset temperatures will be in the upper 30s to low 40s. Tuesday night will be the coldest of the week as overnight lows drop into the upper teens to around 20. We gradually start to warm at the end of the week as upper high pressure moves east and upper winds shift back more southwesterly. Temperatures get back into the 60s by Friday and last into the weekend. Rain isn't expected until potentially the end of next weekend.
