What gives the skies its colors?
Throughout the day during mostly clear times, you might have noticed the coloration of the sky changes. Just why is this?
It has to do with how much of the earth's atmosphere the sunlight has to travel through and the scattering of the airs molecules.
During the noon hours, there is less atmosphere for the light to travel through meaning that all colors of light are scattered equally giving off a white hue to those on earth.
Closer to sunrise and sunset, the light from the sun has to pass through more of the earth's atmosphere meaning the shorter wavelengths of light such as blue is scattered out giving way to red and orange hues.
