Tracking slim rain chances tonight and dangerous heat the rest of the week

TONIGHT: Showers and a rumble of thunder or two are possible this evening, along and north of a line from Sedalia to Hermann. This activity will bring minimal rainfall, and we should expect a mostly dry evening, with mostly cloudy skies.

TOMORROW: Wednesday will start with warm temperatures, near 80. It's a warm day, despite some morning cloud cover, and scattered showers and storms lingering through midday. Again, these will be weak and are not expected to bring much in the way appreciable rainfall. Heat will be the most impactful and dangerous part of Wednesday. Highs will climb to near 100 degrees, with enough humidity to make it feel like 101-104.

EXTENDED: Thursday and Friday are ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Days as temperatures are expected to climb a few degrees warmer, leaving us with a potential heat index value in the 105-110 ball park. We'll be a hair cooler come Saturday, as a cold front approaches from the north by week's end. This brings us rain chances Friday night and Saturday, along with the hopes of slightly cooler air for the weekend. We'll still keep highs forecast near 100 on Saturday, and in the upper 90s on Sunday. The upper level high that is driving this heat will likely remain overhead or nearby next week, keeping temperatures easily in the 90s, and possibly revisiting triple digits.
