Tracking a system late Sunday night bringing chances for rain, hail, and strong winds
TONIGHT: Building clouds across the area, calm winds from the SW at 5-8 mph.
TOMORROW: We see some slight chances of sprinkles spread throughout the day, mostly being in the afternoon. We'll also see winds start to pick up from the south because of the large low pressure system heading our way. Late tomorrow night into early Monday morning we are almost certain that this low pressure system will have several affects. One main aspect of this system we are tracking is the rain overnight, with possibilities for some rumbles of thunder and hail. Because the wind in this system is so strong, we could have isolated spots around Missouri that experience hail, possibly getting up to an inch in diameter. The other aspect of this system we are watching is the increasing chances for strong sustained winds early Monday morning. After the rain has passed over us, we are looking at possibilities for 40-45 mph sustained winds. The gusts would be in the 50 mph range, which could cause damage, so we are keeping a close eye on the trend moving into this system. This combined with the hail are our main concerns, as this system does not come with notable instability, meaning we shouldn't see any other severe aspects.
EXTENDED: The rest of the week for Missouri looks rather calm, especially because we'll be looking at temperatures 10-15 degrees above average for the majority of it. Wednesday is trending to be your warmest day of the week in the mid to upper 60s, but after this we do see a cool down. Along with this, we could see another round of precipitation Thursday night into Friday. Depending on the temperatures, this has chances of bringing a wintry mix along with it, as they barely touch freezing.
