Tracking spring like showers, storms, and temperatures

TODAY: The week starts off well warmer than normal, with spring-like air rushing in behind a warm front that is lifting across the region as I type this. This has generated widespread light showers before sunrise. This will continue through the pre-dawn hours, until these showers push northeast before 6 a.m. Those in the east will be fighting clouds through sunrise, but those in the west will have a chance at some broken clouds. We're starting warm, with temperatures in the 50s generally. Temperatures will climb into the mid-60s ahead of a cold front which is scheduled to arrive around midday. The cold front may develop another round of rain in the form of an isolated thunderstorm or two just before noon along and east of HWY 63. No severe weather is expected, but some locally heavy rain is possible. Those under an isolated storm would do well to get to a tenth of an inch, but even that much is unlikely. Behind the cold front, skies will clear leaving sunshine to close out the day this afternoon.

TONIGHT: Behind the cold front, skies will clear, but clouds are approaching to the north. Temperatures will fall into the 30s by sunrise.

EXTENDED: Some will start Tuesday with low clouds to the north, but a partly sunny day is still forecast for the majority as even those who start cloudy should see a clearing trend. At the same time, by the afternoon, high clouds will be increasing. Temperatures are a hair cooler, rounding out in the low-50s. Clouds moving in are a sign of the rain slated to arrive on Wednesday. Widespread rain moves in bringing a chance for up to a half inch of rainfall. This keeps Wednesday cool, in the 40s. We may just get to 40 on Thursday, as wrap around clouds keep us cool and gray, with a chance at a light shower or snow flurry. We're mild, in the 40s heading into the weekend. A system will brush by us to the south at the end of the weekend, but confidence on any rain chance is low at this time.
