Tracking plenty of sunshine and summer heat to go along with it

TODAY: I'm tracking a cool start to the day, with temperatures in the low 60s when walking out the door. By the afternoon hours, expect mostly sunny conditions, with thin upper-level clouds at most, as temperatures warm into the upper 80s and winds blow out of the south at 5-10 mph, gusting up to 15 mph.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking temperatures gradually cooling into the low 70s by the end of the night. Winds will continue to blow out of the south at 5-10 mph, gusting up to 15 mph, as upper-level cloud cover begins to filter out of the area.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking another sunny afternoon on Sunday, but this persistent southerly flow paired with stubborn high pressure will be the reason why temperatures will be warming into the mid-90s. This southerly flow will also be dragging in more moisture, which is why it will feel closer to 100 by Sunday afternoon. This trend practically holds throughout all of next week, with mostly sunny conditions each day, temperatures expected to get into the mid-to-upper 90s each afternoon, and heat index values near the 100-degree range with those high temperatures. At this time, extreme heat indexes are not expected, but no matter what, it will still be hot this coming week.
