Tracking accumulating snow starting late tonight
TONIGHT: Light rain showers quickly turn over to snow showers after sunset as temperatures drop. Expect snow showers to continue overnight into early Tuesday morning. Accumulation between 1-3". Lows around 30.
TOMORROW: Snow showers coming to an end early, but clouds and flurries stick around. Roads may be slick through mid-late morning. Highs reaching the mid-30s.
EXTENDED: A Stormtrack Weather Alert Day is in effect through Tuesday morning with snowfall moving in after sunset tonight. A low pressure system moving through the Plains has already started producing rain and snow across Kansas and Oklahoma, moving in our direction tonight. Light rain will quickly change to snow as temperatures drop, with the highest potential of seeing more accumulation and impacts across northern Missouri. Areas north of I-70 could see 2-3", with a dusting to 2" farther south. Snow showers look to exit by mid-morning, but there could be slick spots through midday, especially on bridges and overpasses. Clouds and flurries will be possible through the afternoon, keeping temperatures in the upper 30s for highs. Low pressure to our northeast could continue to bring a few flurries to a northern half of the area on Wednesday. Temperatures the rest of the week will be well below average in the 30s during the day, falling to the teens at night by the end of the week. We're looking dry through the weekend, with slightly warmer temperatures as we head into Thanksgiving week.
