Tracking a mild and mostly dry Election Day before returning to near-record warmth

TODAY: Tuesday is shaping up mostly cloudy, and mostly dry. Some sprinkles are possible in a very isolated fashion this morning, but chances are good that most won't see a drop. Late this evening, after 7 p.m., a slightly better chance for showers arrives with a warm front. Still, any shower activity will be isolated, and most likely west of Hwy 63.

TONIGHT: Clouds stick around with the arrival of the warm front, and winds turn southerly. This keeps us in the 50s overnight.

EXTENDED: Starting in the 50s early Wednesday, skies will return to partly cloudy conditions. With additional sun and 10-15 mph winds from the south gusting to 20 mph, temperatures will climb well into the upper 70s, near record territory. Thursday will likely be just as warm, but afternoon highs depend on the timing of an approaching cold front. The front looks to arrive around 7 p.m. Thursday night. Some extra clouds and moisture may knock a few degrees off of afternoon highs, but Thursday is still looking exceptionally warm. Then all of mid-MO get's a reality check on Friday. Temperatures will swing from nearly 20 degrees above normal to about 10-15 degrees below normal. Expect mid-40s Friday afternoon. Saturday morning, temperatures fall into the low 20s, before recovering only into the upper 30s by the afternoon. Sunday some may start as low as teens, before warming into the low 40s. Temperatures will slow climb to more moderate temperatures to start next week, but it looks like we continue to stay cooler than normal.
