Tracking storms and strong winds overnight, cooler start to the weekend
TONIGHT: Showers and storms likely with wind gusts between 40-50 mph. Lows falling into the low to mid-40s by morning.
TOMORROW: Breezy with decreasing clouds and cool temperatures in the mid-upper 50s for highs.
EXTENDED: Storms should enter Mid-Missouri by early evening along Highway 65, and then progress east through the night. Expect rain and a few storms between 6:00-8:00 p.m. in Columbia and Jefferson City. The highest threat for any severe storms would be west of Highway 63 through 10:00 p.m., but the overall threat is low with a lack of instability to support storm strength. That said, strong winds up to 45-50 mph will be possible into the overnight hours, along with 1-2" of rain. The majority of rain looks to move out by sunrise, with wrap around showers possible into mid-morning. Clouds stick around in the morning, keeping temperatures in the low to mid-40s. Strong northwest winds will make for a chilly Saturday morning, but as clouds move out we manage to get into the mid-upper 50s by late afternoon. Sunday is still somewhat breezy, but warmer with highs near 70. Next week is mild with the upper pattern bringing southwest winds, but a weak disturbance could bring a couple showers on Tuesday. There is plenty of uncertainty surrounding the end of the week as a strong low pressure system could bring rain and a big cool down, but at this point it looks like it could happen in the time frame between Thursday and Friday.
