Tracking much-needed rain early this week

Today: Sunday will feature many of the same conditions as Saturday with added cloud cover during the afternoon. This will marginally subdue highs to the lower 80s. Expect more blustery winds with gusts up to 30 mph; as this wind blows over a dry central Missouri it's a good idea to avoid burning through the end of the weekend.

Tomorrow: Cloudier to start with showers approaching from the west in the morning. Widespread showers and storms move in during the afternoon along a cold front. Temperatures will still climb to the 70s before the rain moves in.

Extended: As the front pushes east, a low pressure system will travel south to north along the boundary, arriving in mid-Missouri by early Tuesday. This low will bring more moisture, and potentially keep rain in the forecast a bit longer, raising expected rain totals for those to the southeast. Overall, it looks like we could see a range of just under an inch to nearly 2 inches of rain from the northwest to southeast. Highest totals are focused near the I-44 corridor. Wednesday looks to be the brightest day of the week as skies clear behind the front and highs reach the low 60s. More clouds return late week as another minor shot of rain is possible Friday.
